K, so it was really dumb, but I had to stay on topic and it was the first thing that came to mind..... Ah, well shoot, I guess I might as well do the others while I'm at it... I'll explain my last one soon in the Lounge. Just let insanity soak in first as preparation.
I'm very uninspired right now, so please forgive how bad these are:
How much cow would a cow bell bell, if a cow bell could bell cow? How much con would a con artist artist, if a con artist could artist con? How much pimp would a pimple pull, if a pimple could pull pimp? How much Al would an Al Gore gore, if an Al Gore could gore Al? How much blue would a blueberry berry, if a blueberry could berry blue? How much night would a nightstand stand, if a nightstant could stand night?
Gee, only a couple of good ones in all of that. I'll do better next time....<yawn>

How much tom would a tomcat cat, if a tomcat could cat tom? How much pro would a proton ton, if a proton could ton pro?
And here's better stuff.
How much fifth would a fifth wheel wheel, if a fifth wheel could wheel fifth? How much gang would a gangplank plank, if a gangplank could plank gang?
Hmm, those weren't too great either...I finally got one!
How much cat would a catfish fish, if a catfish could fish cat?

Does anyone here know how to do these right!!!
Dragondrake you posted Now that almost worked but you forgot a rule that makes it sound better. You sometimes have to make words into the plural version and change much to many so it sounds right. Here would be the correct way to do it (or at least a better way in my opinion).
How many cats would a catfish fish if a catfish could fish cats?
Now didn't that sound better? I hope no one has taken offense to my comments but I couldn't let everyone continue do it wrong, it was really starting to bug me.

Actually, my dear fellow woodchucker, since the beginning of the thread, we have not pluralized the first parts of the word. Example: How much table would a tablespoon spoon if a tablespoon could spoon table. see? Also, I noticed you didn't add one to the list with your comment. To quote a wise man: "Nobody leaves this stage without singin' the Blues." Now it's my turn. How much skate would a skateboard board, if a skateboard could board skate. I'm amazed that one hasn't been done yet.

Just because it wasn't pluralized at the beginning of the thread doesn't mean that is the right way to do it. Everything here should follow the rules of English language. There is no point to not pluralizing the words. When you don't pluralize the words it ends up sounding stupid and wrong, here is an example Now if you wanted to do it right it should be "How many skates would a skateboard board if a skateboard could board skates". Now is that so hard to do? Oh and I am pretty sure that Scott agrees with the pluralizing idea because I talked to him at the park, If he does not agree then he can post that in here but if he does agree with me maybe you will do it the way I like to call "the right way".
P.S. I did add one with my last post

I agree that much of this is a matter of oppinion. For your cat example, matthew:
You could also look at it in another way. It is not incorect to say:
How much cat would a catfish fish if a catfish could fish cat
It could simply mean how much of the cat would a catfish fish, rather then how many. It depends on how you look at it.
