Final Fantasy III for the Nintendo DS. I've been waiting for this game ever since I played FFV on the Playstation. This game was one of the most powerful markers in the Final Fantasy road of Job Classes, which is one of my most favourite character systems.
The game plays a lot like FF1, but with interchangeable job classes. But I'm not talking about six, I'm talking 24 job classes that become unlocked through the game. The job classes are missing the skill learning that made FFV what it is, and eventually became the center of FF Tactics. The biggest downside is that some of the jobs look similar, and some become even outdated in comparison, so the vital job balance is missing.
The graphics are amazing to behold. I'm never seen such an old game taken, and given modern graphics, with a lush, 3-D world, and battles that make FFVII freaks cry. And yet, it still holds all the play of the classic style, so it loses no authenticity.
The game is set up so the coolest job class, the Onion Knight (you might've heard of an Onion Knight from other games. Yes, this is its origin,) is unlockable through connecting with other players. Thankfully, Wi-Fi is fully operational for those who don't have friends closeby.
If you're looking for a game that'll take you back to the Golden Age of Vids, (as I like to call it,) then pick this one up. It's been hard to find, and sold out in most places, but there ar still enough copies for everyone that wants one. C'mon and play, fellow adventurers, and see what a new world has in store for you.
